As mentioned in our recent RX 5700 XT performance article, the new Navi architecture cards are coming in with a bunch of new tech features. The more popular ones from a gaming tech point of view are Radeon Image Sharpening, Radeon Anti-Lag and Automatic Low Latency Mode. These have been activated within the latest RX 5000 Adrenalin driver 19.7.1, now released by AMD.
Radeon Image Sharpening
The first of these two features is used to improve lost graphics clarity while playing through contrast-adaptive sharpening in conjunction with optional GPU upscaling. This combination helps render detail to provide a sharper looking image.

Automatic Low Latency Mode
AMD Navi graphics cards are reportedly to be found in both of the next gen consoles, the PS5 and the XBox 2. Probably as a result of getting into bed with these two tech supergiants, this AMD Navi driver roles out something called Automatic Low Latency Mode, which enables the graphics solution to better communicate with a connected TV by entering a low latency mode automatically, ready for gaming.
Radeon Anti-Lag
Again we find AMD looking to the future of next gen gaming, as we see them target the online e-sports and multiplayer gaming sector. Hugely popular games like League of Legends, Rocket League and of course PUGB and Fortnite will have their millions of gamers constantly looking to get the edge, when competing online. And here we find AMD offering up an anti-lag tech feature that can be turned on through the Radeon Settings panel, that reportedly improves “input-to-display response time with up to 31% reduction in lag”.
This basically means that AMD are saying they have streamlined the throughput of data when it is coming in via the internet, for an online game you might be playing and it focuses on rendering that data to your screen as soon as it gets it. Thus giving you a better chance of being able to respond to that visual data sooner and more accurately.
How effective this feature is is still up for discussion and we would love to hear your thoughts on that below.

Fixed Issues
Graphics driver may not uninstall correctly when using the express uninstall option on some Ryzen APUs. Performance Metrics Overlay may intermittently display incorrect colors when being displayed in game. Radeon Overlay may fail to appear or invoke when playing DOOM™. Radeon Overlay may fail to appear or invoke when a game is running fullscreen on Windows®7 system configurations. Some users may be experiencing AMD DLL file signing issues with Easy Anti-Cheat™. A clean install of Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.7.1 may be required to fix this issue.
Known Issues
With Radeon Image Sharpening enabled, Radeon Overlay may flicker in DirectX®9 or Vulkan® applications or games. Radeon ReLive streaming and uploading of videos and other content to Facebook™ is currently unavailable. Audio for clips captured by Radeon ReLive may be corrupted or garbled when desktop recording is enabled. Textures in Star Wars® Battlefront II may appear pixelated or blurry when using DirectX®11 API. ASUS TUF Gaming FX505 may experience discrete GPU connection issues with devices disappearing from device manager when the system is idle. Minor stuttering may occur when playing Fortnite™ during the first few minutes of gameplay on AMD Radeon RX 5700 Series Graphics. Valve Index headset may experience flicker when launching SteamVR on AMD Radeon RX 5700 Series Graphics. Radeon RX 5700 Series Graphics may experience a black screen during uninstall on Windows®7 system configurations. A work around is to perform uninstall in safe mode. Recording clips with Radeon ReLive may result in blank clips on Radeon RX 5700 Series Graphics with Windows®7 system configurations. League of Legends™ may fail to launch on Radeon RX 5700 Series Graphics with Windows®7 system configurations. Radeon Settings may not appear in the right click desktop context menu on Windows®7 system configurations.
