Deck13 Says The Surge 2 Next-Gen Patch Might Not Happen,

Developer Deck13 has confirmed once more, responding to a fan question on Twitter, that the project it is currently working on is not The Surge 3.

Aside from The Surge 3 not being in development, Deck13 also cast doubt on the possibility of a next-gen patch for The Surge 2.

“We’d love to get the opportunity to do a next gen patch, but for now our resources are pretty much all tied up in the new project.” it said.

“That project won’t be The Surge 3. It’s time for something fresh.”

Last year, Deck13 revealed that it was working on a new franchise and told GameWatcher that its next project would follow a souls-like recipe but “play a bit different”. At that time, the project was barely starting production.

The German developer’s new game is made in collaboration with publisher Focus Home Interactive which earlier this year, in June, acquired the studio.

In our review, we called The Surge 2 “a very single-minded and effective game” before awarding it an 8.
