UPDATE 2: Well how’s this for a surprise – the Need For Speed website has been updated and it looks as if the new game in the series is going to be revealed a week earlier than we expected.

Head on over to the official site and a countdown has just gone up. It’s taking down to what we presume is a reveal of Need For Speed 2019 in two days’ time.

The Need For Speed reveal countdown ends on Wednesday, August 14th at 6am / 9am EST / 2pm BST / 3pm CEST.

I’ll be sat right here in this chair at that time so we’ll be sure to bring you first look at the new Need For Speed just as soon as it happens.

UPDATE 1: 31-Jul-2019 – EA confirms new Need For Speed game will be officially revealed during Gamescom in August Electronic Arts has been busy shouting about its financial results during its quarterly earnings call. We don’t really care how many megabucks they made from surprise mechanics but we’re certainly interested in their projections. Namely, EA confirmed a new Need For Speed title will release at some point between October 1st and the end of the year.

In addition to this, EA also confirmed the new Need For Speed game will officially be revealed during Gamescom 2019 in Cologne. The event runs from August 20th-24th and EA is rumoured to be hosting its own conference. Yesterday’s leaked pointed towards the new Need For Speed being called Need For Speed Heat, although this may be guesswork on the retailer’s part.

And one final piece of news – EA also confirmed a new Plants vs Zombies game is in development and will be coming to PC. Plants vs Zombies 3 for mobile devices has already been revealed, so this is perhaps an entirely new title. The smart money would be on Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 3.

Original Story: 30-Jul-2019 – Need For Speed Heat leaked via store listing, out in 2019

EA’s already confirmed we’ll be getting a new Need For Speed game in 2019, even if it decided to show us absolutely nothing during its E3 EA Play event. In the absence of an official reveal though, a retailer appears to have let slip Need For Speed Heat, an all-new game in the Need For Speed franchise and the successor to the ill-fated NFS Payback.

The listing for NFS Heat has cropped up on Austrian retailer Gameware’s official store page and is available to pre-order on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. There’s no official box art for Need For Speed Heat just yet, although it certainly appears as if Game ware has gotten wind of EA’s announcement before the general public has.

As for what else know, well, it’s very little indeed. Ghost Games will almost assuredly be behind the wheel, assuming development duties for the Need For Speed franchise once again. The store listing also provides further confirmation of a 2019 launch date for NFS Heat.

If you’re hoping for any more info then you may need to be patient. EA is rumoured to be holding a press conference during Gamescom 2019. The German gaming event takes place from August 20th – 24th. It’s here where we’d definitely expect to see something Need For Speed-related, as well as deeper looks at FIFA 20 and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
