Publisher Koei Tecmo Europe and developer Team Ninja today revealed more information about Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition’s story and available weapon types.

As befitting a dark fantasy action-RPG, Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition will give players a choice between 16 weapon types, which they can use to take down scores of ruthless opponents.

The splitstaff and fists – weapon types originally introduced in post-launch DLC – will be available from the start of the adventure.

Each weapon type in Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition comes with its own skill tree and unique playstyle, this flexibility ensuring that players find at least one favorite. Here is the full list of choices:

  • Kusarigamas
  • Odachis
  • Tonfas

In terms of story, you create your own half-human, half-yokai character which grows stronger as they introduce enemies to the sharp or blunt end of their weapons and devastating yokai powers.

While journeying to seek employment as a mercenary in the Mino province, you lose control of these magical abilities, succumbing to darkness.

Luckily, wandering Spirit Stone merchant Tokichiro succeeds in calming the yokai inside you. One encounter with Oda Nobunaga later and you’ll be off to Japan’s Sengoku period, looking to unveil the tale of Hideyoshi.

Since Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition also comes with the three post-launch DLC received by its console counterpart, the narrative doesn’t stop with the end of the base campaign.

While it might sound a bit contrived, things begin to fall into place a bit more clearly once you start shedding the blood of your opponents.

You’ll be able to do so starting with February 5, 2021, when Nioh 2 – The Complete Edition arrives on PC through Steam.
