Following in the footsteps of Ninja, popular Twitch streamer Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek has jumped ship to Microsoft’s Mixer live-streaming platform.
The ex-Counter-Strike: Global Offensive pro is arguably a bigger get for Microsoft that the iconic Ninja. Unlike Ninja, Shroud is a Twitch streamer who’s consistently on the rise and is also very comfortable playing a large variety of games, rather than just Fortnite.
At the time of leaving Twitch, Shroud had more than 7 million followers and around 50,000 paid subscribers (equivalent to $250,000 per month in subscription revenue). Microsoft would’ve needed to hand over an eye-watering sum of money in order to procure his services, particularly when taking into account Ninja’s popularity has plummeted since his move earlier in the year.
As it currently stands, Shroud has around 350,000 followers on Mixer, paling in comparison to Twitch.

Microsoft really is throwing a whole lot of cash at trying to make Mixer a genuine competitor to Twitch. It’s a hell of an uphill battle though, even with two of the biggest names in streaming on their side.
